Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior Lead Real Madrid to 2-1 Victory Over Celta Vigo
With goals from Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior, Real Madrid defeated Celta Vigo 2-1 on Saturday.
The match was really exciting. Because of this victory, Madrid and La Liga leaders Barcelona are now tied on points, escalating the rivalry at the top of the standings.
Kylian Mbappe scored Real Madrid’s first goal, his sixth league goal of the year. The current investigation into an alleged incident in Sweden has the French striker under scrutiny, but he showed remarkable form by stunning Celta Vigo with a long-range strike.
The 25-year-old’s off-field drama has garnered media attention, especially in light of his recent absence from Nations League games, which incited outrage in France. But Mbappe brushed the accusations off, calling them “fake news.”
Williot Swedberg of Celta Vigo answered, leveling the score early in the second half. In the end, Vinicius Junior helped Madrid secure the three points despite Celta’s best attempts. In the 66th minute, the striker from Brazil found the back of the net after a well-timed ball from Luka Modric.
Real Madrid’s La Liga winning streak now stands at 42 games thanks to this triumph, paving the way for their much awaited El Clasico matchup with Barcelona the following weekend.
Coach Carlo Ancelotti of Real Madrid commended his team’s tenacity while pointing out that momentum is frequently upset by international breaks. To compensate for captain Dani Carvajal’s extended absence, he fielded a three-center-back lineup to accommodate Lucas Vazquez as a wing-back.
Ancelotti attributed the win to his players’ sharpness and conditioning, particularly to Mbappe and Vinicius, who were in excellent form when they returned from the break. Ancelotti said Real Madrid TV, “They trained very well during the international break and performed brilliantly today.”
At 39, veteran midfielder Luka Modric surpassed Ferenc Puskas to become Real Madrid’s oldest-ever player. Even though he was getting older, Modric changed the course of the game by setting up Vinicius’ winning goal minutes after he entered the game.
“Coaching Modric is an honor,” Ancelotti declared. “He’s a true professional and a key asset for this team.”
Anastasios Douvikas, a replacement, missed a fantastic opportunity to tie the score in stoppage time, although Celta Vigo went close to doing so multiple times. Fran Beltran, a midfielder for Celta, expressed delight in his team’s performance despite the loss, pointing out that they matched Real Madrid for the majority of the game.
“We were the better team for large parts of the game, but mistakes cost us,” Beltran stated. “It’s frustrating, but we showed we can compete at the highest level.”
Real Madrid’s attention will now turn to the forthcoming El Clasico, which pits them against Barcelona, their bitter rivals, and looks to be a pivotal match in the La Liga title fight. Barcelona, who are now tied with Real Madrid, will play Sevilla on Sunday before welcoming their bitter rivals.
