Serbia, captained by three-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokic, defeated Germany 93-83 on Saturday to win the bronze medal in men’s basketball at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

Later on Saturday, in the gold medal final, the United States will play France for their fifth consecutive Olympic gold. The contest will take place at Bercy Arena in Paris.

After falling by four points to an intense American squad in the closing minutes of their semifinal, Serbia easily won bronze in the men’s basketball competition at the Olympics in Paris on Saturday.

Serbia dominated early on, ahead of Germany by nine points at the end of the first quarter, led by three-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokic. Germany was unable to stop Serbia’s shooting in the second half, despite closing the deficit in the second quarter and even outscoring Serbia 17 to 16.

In the third and fourth quarters, Serbia kept Germany at bay with to the 19 points apiece that Jokic and colleague Vasilije Micic finished with.

In the gold medal final, the United States defeated France for their fifth consecutive Olympic gold. The contest took place at Bercy Arena in Paris.

Australia, who had not medalled in women’s basketball since taking home a bronze at the London Games, defeated Belgium by a slim margin in the opening half, leading by just one point at the halfway point.

In the bronze medal game for women’s basketball on Sunday at the Paris Games, Australia defeated Belgium 85-81 to make their first Olympic podium appearance since 2012.

Australia, who had not medalled in women’s basketball since taking home a bronze at the London Games, defeated Belgium by a slim margin in the opening half, leading by just one point at the halfway point. With three more points than Australia in the third quarter, Belgium started to dominate and led by one point entering the fourth.

After the lead switched hands fifteen times during the contest, Australia prevailed 26–19 over Belgium in the fourth quarter to take home the medal. Australian Ezi Magbegor finished with a 30-point performance, 13 rebounds, and three assists.
