WWE SummerSlam 2024 Highlights: Roman Reigns’ Stunning Return and Major Title Shifts
WWE SummerSlam 2024 Updates: WWE SummerSlam 2024 featured a thrilling action-packed evening including multiple shocking moments and championship changes.
Roman Reigns’ spectacular comeback and a string of intense bouts that had spectators on the edge of their seats served as the event’s main attractions.
In the SummerSlam main event, Roman Reigns, making his first appearance in the WWE since WrestleMania 40, supported Cody Rhodes in defending the Undisputed WWE Championship against Solo Sikoa. With Jacob Fatu and himself attacking Rhodes one-on-one, Solo had the match won.
However, just when things looked hopeless for the champion, Reigns’ new song dropped. With the ‘Head of the Table’ emblem flashing on the enormous screen, Reigns entered the arena, sending the audience into a frenzy.
Although it was still unclear who Reigns would target, that issue was answered as he delivered a crushing spear and Superman Punch on his cousin alone. After hitting the Cross Rhodes and winning, Rhodes scooped up the fragments.
Dominik Mysterio helped Liv Morgan defeat Rhea Ripley and retain her Women’s Heavyweight Championship in an incredible opening at WWE SummerSlam 2024. In a bout that lasted barely ten minutes, Bron Breakker easily defeated Sami Zayn to become the new WWE Intercontinental Champions. After defeating Logan Paul to win the United States Championship and put an end to his lengthy reign as champion, LA Knight made sure that another belt changed hands.
Drew McIntyre prevailed in CM Punk’s first broadcast singles bout since his return to the WWE, and Seth Rollins counted one, two, three. At least twice during the match, Punk had the contest in the bag, but he allowed his mental antics to win. Later, as Finn Balor helped Gunther win his first world title and cost Damian Priest the World Heavyweight Championship, the Judgment Day continued to collapse.
It may not have occurred to many, but WrestleMania was four months ago. This has only one possible meaning. Now that the summer is well into its peak, whether you’re a fan of professional wrestling, Yes, indeed! You guessed correctly. For WWE SummerSlam, we are present. Finally, WWE’s second-biggest pay-per-view of the year—which, if rumors are to be believed, is expected to become a two-night event similar to WrestleMania—is here. And based on the kind of matches scheduled, you have to think that this is somewhat of a mini-WrestleMania.

Since Mania 40, WWE has had a storyline change. Without Roman Reigns, Solo Sikoa has put together his own group, Bloodline 2.0, which includes his cousins Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, and Jacob Fatu. Together, the four of them have trampled over anybody who has stood in their way throughout Friday Night SmackDown, including WWE Hall of Famer Paul Heyman and the wise man.
Additionally, Solo and his goons intend to defeat Cody Rhodes, the Undisputed WWE Champion who defeated Solo’s cousin in Philadelphia four months prior, on the biggest night of the summer for the WWE.
For the first time since 1996, and only the second time overall, the 37th edition of WWE SummerSlam was broadcast live from Cleveland, Ohio. Numerous iconic matches from SummerSlam have left a lasting impression on WWE history. In 1998, Stone Cold Steve Austin faced The Undertaker. In the same year, The Rock faced Triple H.
The Child of Heartbreak Shawn Michaels’ comeback from injury after four years. John Cena and AJ Styles, the two greatest players of their generation, are finally playing a singles match. Whatever it is, SummerSlam has it covered. Nothing can be off the charts for this inaugural SummerSlam of the TKO era, as commerce is flourishing.
