Aryna Sabalenka and Jannik Sinner Celebrate US Open 2024 Victory with a Cheat Day
Both Aryna Sabalenka and Jannik Sinner won their first titles at Flushing Meadows in 2024, making headlines with their impressive performances.
With a commanding 7-5, 7-5 victory against American Jessica Pegula, Sabalenka secured her place in the finals, and Sinner defeated Taylor Fritz 6-3, 6-4, 7-5.
Although Aryna Sabalenka and Jannik Sinner have experienced the thrill of a Grand Slam triumph in the past, their triumph at Flushing Meadows this past weekend was their first US Open success. In the championship match, Sabalenka defeated Jessica Pegula 7-5, 7-5, while Sinner defeated Taylor Fritz 6-3, 6-4, 7-5. Both players had previously defeated American home favorites.
On Monday, the winners made an appearance with their trophies on the Today Show, where they also discussed how they celebrated winning. “Had fun and spent time with the team.” We enjoyed tasty meal and drinks. Sabalenka remarked, “We need to experience this relief. In response to the anchor’s question about whether margaritas were served, Sabalenka said, “A lot of margaritas.”
Sinner jokingly said he wasn’t as ostentatious. I believe I am a little less expensive. I always enjoy celebrating over food. I’m a foodie. even if I am like this,” he remarked, displaying his slender body with his pinky finger. “I adore french fries and hamburgers. Naturally, we rejoice in a different manner thereafter.
A new era in tennis at the US Open
The triumphs of Sinner and Sabalenka were noteworthy occasions in the men’s and women’s competitions. In that sense, Sinner’s victory is probably the most notable since it established that Serbian superstar Novak Djokovic did not end the year with a Grand Slam victory. For the first time in almost twenty years, Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Roger Federer—the so-called “Big Three”—did not win a Grand Slam championship.
At Flushing Meadows, Novak Djokovic stood as the final member of the golden generation after Federer had retired and Rafael Nadal was having difficulty returning to the game due to injuries. However, the Serbian lost to Australian Alexei Popyrin in the third round. Sinner won his first-ever Major at the Australian Open earlier this year, making this his second Grand Slam triumph of the year and of his career.
Sabalenka has become a reliable challenger for Grand Slam titles in the women’s game, whereas other big stars are having trouble staying healthy. But she has experienced her fair share of difficulties. The Belarusian won back-to-back titles at the Australian Open, but she took a mid-season vacation to address fitness and health issues following a back injury she sustained in Rome. She also missed Wimbledon because of a shoulder ailment.
