Carlos Alcaraz’s Triumph Over Jannik Sinner: Set to Face Daniil Medvedev in Indian Wells Finals 2024
Carlos Alcaraz delivered a stunning performance at the Indian Wells ATP Masters, halting Jannik Sinner’s remarkable 19-match winning streak while Daniil Medvedev triumphed over Tommy Paul to advance to the final to face Carlos Alcaraz.
Alcaraz’s victory over Jannik Sinner
Sinner‘s 19-match winning streak, which included a 16-0 start to the year, came to an end with the win, and Alcaraz will continue to be ranked second in the world the following week.
Reigning champion Carlos Alcaraz defeated Australian Open champion Jannik Sinner 1-6, 6-3, 6-2, to earn a spot in the Indian Wells ATP Masters final on Saturday. It was Sinner’s first loss of 2024.
Sinner’s 19-match winning streak, which included a 16-0 start to the year, came to an end with the win, and Alcaraz will continue to be ranked second in the world the following week.
He has the opportunity to become the first repeat Indian Wells ATP champion since Novak Djokovic, who won three titles in a row from 2014 to 2016. The spectacular rallies that enthralled the Stadium Court crowd made the match, which had been delayed by three hours due to rain, worth the wait.
“Jannik’s matches are always special,” Alcaraz remarked. “I always demand the highest level from myself against him and it’s the same for him. “We are aware that winning requires us to perform at our best. We’ve worked wonders on the court, scoring incredible scores that are equally fantastic for the spectators.”
When play resumed, Sinner wasted little time in seizing the advantage. He won four games in a row and took the opening set thanks to his precision and depth. He turned a short ball into a scorching cross-court passing winner on break point after saving the only break point he faced and earning the insurance break for a 5-1 lead.
In response, Alcaraz made a cunning stylistic shift in the second set, backing up to buy himself more time on the returns and progressively gaining ground on the opposition.
In a match that had spectators on their feet applauding an exciting rally at the net, he broke Sinner with a deep volley winner for a 3-1 lead and held for 4-1. Sinner created a break chance for himself in the seventh game with a brilliant service return, but he was unable to capitalize on his possibilities.

Alcaraz closed off the set with a drop-shot victory and prevented another break attempt with an unbelievable backhand winner down the line.
“Mentally, I remained strong,” Alcaraz stated. That’s a crucial component of this game, in my opinion.
“This kind of match, a set down playing against someone that’s playing an unbelievable game — I’m really happy with the things I’ve done.”I think it went really, really well because I somewhat adjusted both my style and my game.”
In the third game of the final set, Alcaraz took advantage of a few careless forehands from Sinner to create an opening. He then ended another chaotic rally by winning with a high backhand volley to take the lead.
After diving to retrieve a ball, Sinner emerged with his right arm shaking.
Alcaraz won five straight games and, on his third match point, sealed the victory with a forehand winner, so it appeared that he was helpless to stop them.
“I’m thrilled to have defeated Jannik and to be in the championship match once more,” declared Alcaraz, who is vying for his first trophy since winning Wimbledon in July of last year.
Alcaraz defeated Sinner in the Indian Wells semifinals for the second year in a row.
Sinner entered the game riding a 19-match winning streak and had won both of their matchups since. His maiden Grand Slam triumph in Australia and a victory at Rotterdam last month were part of his 16-0 start to 2024.
Daniil Medvedev Beats Tommy Paul
Daniil Medvedev triumphed over Tommy Paul to advance to the final, where he will face off against defending champion Carlos Alcaraz. The stage is set for an epic rematch between these tennis titans, promising another intense battle on Sunday.
Medvedev’s path to the final was not without obstacles, as he faced a determined Tommy Paul in the semi-final match. Despite Paul’s strong start, Medvedev’s strategic play and determination led him to victory in a hard-fought three-setter.
Meanwhile, Alcaraz showcased his resilience by coming from behind to defeat Jannik Sinner in another gripping match. With both players demonstrating their skill and determination, fans can expect an electrifying final at Indian Wells.
