Grigor Dimitrov Achieves Milestone with 100th Indoor Victory Against Dominic Stricker in Stockholm

Grigor Dimitrov has accomplished yet another noteworthy career milestone in an amazing feat of ability. In the ATP 250 tournament quarterfinals in Stockholm, the world No.

10 defeated Dominic Stricker of Switzerland 6-3, 6-2 to mark his 100th indoor triumph.

With this accomplishment, Dimitrov solidifies his place among the top players in tennis today by becoming the first male player born in 1990 or later to reach 100 victories in indoor competitions.

This year, Grigor Dimitrov has already achieved several career milestones, including his 40th Top 10 victory, 100th clay-court victory, and 300th hard-court victory. On Friday, he achieved yet another milestone in Stockholm.

In the quarterfinals of the ATP 250 event, the world No. 10 defeated Swiss lefty Dominic Stricker 6-3, 6-2 to achieve his 100th career victory indoors. Born in 1991, Dimitrov is the first man to reach 100 career victories at indoor competitions who was born in 1990 or later.

Stricker applied pressure early on, holding break point in two of Dimitrov’s first three service games. However, Dimitrov went on the rampage, winning seven straight games to take a 6-3, 4-0 lead over the Swiss. From there, the two traded holds until the match was over.

In addition to winning the championship in 2013, Dimitrov has advanced to five career semifinals in the indoor event. He has reached two more finals in 2014 and 2017 and another semifinal in 2016. Dimitrov won the first ATP title of his career in Stockholm eleven years ago.

This year’s semifinalist, Tallon Griekspoor, who defeated world No. 8 Casper Ruud 7-5, 7-6 (5) earlier in the day, will be waiting for him. This is Griekspoor’s equal-biggest career victory. Earlier this year in Rotterdam, the Dutchman defeated Hubert Hurkacz, who was rated eighth.

In the third round of the US Open this summer, Dimitrov easily defeated the pair in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3, 6-1. This was their first previous match.
