Kylian Mbappe’s Emotional PSG Exit Announcement 2024: A Farewell to a Glorious Career
Kylian Mbappe bids farewell to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) after an illustrious tenure marked by record-breaking performances and unwavering fan support in an emotional video shared on social media.
After months of rumors, Kylian Mbappe has made his leaving from PSG official for the first time.
Kylian Mbappe’s announcement of his departure from Paris Saint-Germain, which was anticipated about a year ago, is now official. The Frenchman allegedly told the PSG administration that he would not be extending his contract and is expected to sign with Real Madrid as a free agent.
Because the attacker refused to have his contract extended, Mbappe and PSG were at odds in June of last year. Although it didn’t seem likely that he would play for PSG in the 2023–24 campaign, the matter was settled and an understanding was reached by all sides.
The 22-year-old made his official PSG exit announcement on X, formerly known as Twitter, and was clearly upset. He also expressed gratitude to the supporters, his PSG coaches, and the backroom crew.
Here’s What He Stated
“Hello to all of you! Kylian is it. I had something to say to you. I wanted to let you know that this is my final year at Paris Saint-Germain, as I’ve always promised to talk to you when the moment was appropriate. The experience will come to an end in a few weeks, and I will not be extending. On Sunday, I will play my final game at the Parc des Princes.”
“There are a lot of mixed feelings. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of joining the biggest club in France and among the best in the world, which has given me the opportunity to come here, experience my first time at a high-pressure club, develop as a player and play with some of the greatest players in history, great champions, meet a lot of people, and grow as a man in spite of all the glory and mistakes I’ve made.”
“First and foremost, I would like to express my gratitude to all of my teammates from my playing career; coaches Unai Emery, Thomas Tuchel, Mauricio Pochettino, Christophe Galtier, and Luis Enrique; sporting directors Leonardo and Luis Campos, for always being by my side; and everyone else at the club, including the unseen individuals who work in the background, such as the physiotherapists, intendants, performance team, employees in the offices, and campus personnel.”
“These amazing individuals deserve this distinction since they all give the club their all. The club is occasionally the subject of media frenzy, despite anything that may occur outside. I am confident that the club is in excellent hands with all of these individuals because they genuinely care about the club and want to see it flourish.”
“It’s challenging, challenging, and I never imagined it would be this challenging to announce this, to leave my home nation of France, to leave Ligue 1, a league that I have always known, but I believe that after this year, I needed this—a new challenge. It’s challenging, and there are some people—the supporters, mostly—that I want to thank. I haven’t always lived up to the affection you all have shown me over the past seven years, and I am aware that I am not the most outspoken player, but I have never sought to cheat. My goal has always been to be successful.”

This season ended up following a similar pattern, with PSG going through a change of leadership. The PSG dynasty, which also saw Lionel Messi and Neymar move during the previous summer transfer window, will come to an end with Mbappe’s departure. PSG, meanwhile, lost to Borussia Dortmund in the semi-finals and was unable to go to the Champions League final.
Mbappe was born in Paris, so leaving PSG won’t be an easy option for him. In 2017, he made the switch to PSG on loan, with a 180 million euro purchase option. He has surpassed players like Pedro Miguel Pauleta, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and Edinson Cavani to become the club’s all-time leading scorer since making his debut. He has now broken other club records.
