Kylian Mbappe, Paris Saint-Germain’s (PSG) star forward showcased his unstoppable prowess with a sensational hat-trick, propelling his team to a resounding 6-2 victory over Montpellier on Sunday.

Paris Saint-Germain easily defeated Montpellier 6-2 on the road on Sunday, thanks to a hat-trick from the irrepressible Kylian Mbappe. This victory gave them a commanding 12-point lead atop Ligue 1.

Kylian Mbappeā€™s Hat-Trick Leads PSG to Dominant 6-2 Win Against Montpellier

PSG took the lead at the Stade de la Mosson thanks to goals from Vitinha and Mbappe, but Montpellier responded with a header from Arnaud Nordin and a penalty from Teji Savanier to draw even at halftime. But soon after the break, a fantastic Mbappe goal gave PSG the lead again, and Lee Kang-in made it 4-2 before the France captain finished with a hat-trick.

Late in the game, Nuno Mendes sealed the win for Luis Enrique’s team, ending a run of three straight draws in Ligue 1 and extending their unblemished domestic record that dates back to September.

With just eight games remaining, the Parisians lead Ligue 1 by 12 points, and a 10th title in 12 seasons seems inevitable after closest rivals Brest and Lille drew 1-1 earlier on Sunday.

For the first time since telling the team in the middle of February that he planned to quit when his contract expired at the end of the season, Mbappe played the full ninety minutes of a Ligue 1 match.

With this hat-trick, which was his third of the season, he now has 24 goals in Ligue 1 and 38 goals overall.
In the 14th minute, Portugal’s Vitinha opened the score when he collected a feed from Mbappe 25 meters out and curled a low effort into the bottom-right corner.

After feeding Randal Kolo Muani in the break, Mbappe raced to recover the ball and slotted it into the far corner from a close angle to make it 2-0.

Danilo Pereira was only able to assist on a cross from the left, and Nordin, who was a friend of Mbappe’s at Clairefontaine, the national youth academy in France, headed in at the back post to give Montpellier a response.

Just before halftime, Tanguy Coulibaly took advantage of Pereira’s short back ball to win the home team a penalty. However, PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma clattered Coulibaly.
Teji Savanier scored the penalty kick, but five minutes after the break, Mbappe gave PSG the lead again with a brilliant long-range strike that smacked in off the underside of the crossbar.

On minute 53, South Korean sensation Lee made it 4-2 by dribbling with Kolo Muani in a one-two and scoring with his left foot from outside the area.
After latching onto a ball over the top, Mbappe finished with his right foot to seal his hat-trick. However, a second penalty ruling for Montpellier was reversed after a VAR review.

The visitors’ goal came from a post struck by Warren Zaire-Emery, and Mendes sealed the victory with a minute remaining by racing into the box to seize a pass from Vitinha and score.
