Lautaro Giannetti scored only goal of the game as Juventus is startled by Udinese
At the Allianz Stadium in Turin, Juventus’ hopes of winning the championship were dashed when Lautaro Giannetti scored the game’s lone goal in the 25th minute.
Inter Milan now lead Serie A by seven points with a game remaining, while their closest rivals, Juventus, were shocked to lose 1-0 at home to Udinese on Monday.
At the Allianz Stadium in Turin, Lautaro Giannetti poked home the game’s lone goal in the 25th minute, severely hurting Juventus’s hopes of winning the championship.
With his first goal since joining Udinese last month, Argentine defender Giannetti gave his team just their third league victory of the year.
After a tight setback at Inter last weekend, Gabriele Cioffi’s Udinese have now defeated dismal Juve twice in a row, moving them three points clear of the relegation zone.
“Unfortunately, we’re not in a great place right now,” Massimiliano Allegri, the Juventus coach, stated.
“We need to get our focus back because we still need to get a lot more points if we’re going to qualify for the Champions League.”
The closest Juve got to tying the score was when Arkadiusz Milik nodded in from a corner just after the hour, but Federico Chiesa’s cross was disallowed.
Inter, who defeated Roma 4-2 on Saturday, could not have come at a better time to suffer Allegri’s team’s first home loss of the year.
The league leaders have a challenging schedule of games ahead of them, which includes their matchup with Atalanta in the coming weeks and Atletico Madrid in the Champions League round of 16.
After a 1-0 victory over Napoli on Sunday night, AC Milan has closed the gap to only one point in third place, leaving Juventus to worry about their future.
