Manchester City Closing in on 4th Consecutive Premier League Victory
Manchester City is just two wins away from clinching another historic Premier League title, with Burnley facing relegation after a disappointing season.
City’s recent 4-0 victory against Fulham has propelled them into a two-point lead over Arsenal, positioning them favorably for the title race’s final stretch.
Burnley, meanwhile, has to win because they were officially relegated from the Premier League on Saturday with one game remaining. City won handily over Fulham 4-0 to move up above Arsenal into a two-point lead on a momentous day at both ends of the rankings. With two games remaining for each of the top two, Arsenal takes on Manchester United on Sunday.
Regardless of how Arsenal ends the season, Pep Guardiola’s team will win the title if they defeat West Ham at home on May 19 and Tottenham away on Tuesday.
“My players enjoy playing under duress. Guardiola, whose team has won five of the last six Premier League titles, stated, “They are used to it.” The players relish this sensation.
“This season is no different; your only concern should be the upcoming game. Prioritize winning the upcoming match, and then we’ll assess the situation.”
Josko Gvardiol, a left back, has scored twice for City to increase his stature as an unlikely goal scorer for Guardiola. This is his fifth goal in his past seven games. At Craven Cottage, Phil Foden and Julian Alvarez both scored goals as City extended their winning streak to 33 games in all competitions.
In the 136-year history of English soccer, no side has taken home the championship for four years in a row. It’s the most recent record for Guardiola’s City, who is also headed to the FA Cup final on May 25 against Manchester United.

Burnley Down
After a season, two of the three teams that were promoted to the Premier League this year will undoubtedly return to the Championship.
The third one isn’t looking so well, either.
Burnley lost 2-1 to Sheffield United, who had already been relegated, then lost to Tottenham, who they needed to defeat in order to have a shot at winning the league for a second consecutive season.
Luton is in danger of being the third team to be relegated after losing 3-1 at West Ham. But it was granted a respite when Nottingham Forest, who were fourth from the bottom, lost 3-2 at home to Chelsea after squandering a lead.
Forest had a better goal differential of 12 and finished three points ahead of Luton. Next weekend, Luton will play Fulham while Forest will visit Burnley in the last round of games. For Luton to make it through, there must be a significant and unlikely movement in goal differential.
For the first time since 2018, all three promoted teams avoided relegation in the previous campaign.
Spurs Retain Hope
Micky van de Ven’s goal in the 82nd minute gave Tottenham a come-from-behind victory over Burnley, preserving their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League.
Pedro Porro, the right back for Spurs, scored the team’s opening goal to start the comeback.
With two games remaining, Spurs closed the deficit on Aston Villa, who are now in fourth place, to four points. If Villa defeats Liverpool on Monday, they will take fourth place in the Premier League and the last automatic Champions League position.
