Must Esteem His Privacy: Former Indian Player’s Opinion On Virat Kohli’s Appeal From The England vs India Test Match
The former India captain said that nobody had explained to him why he would miss the full Test series against England.
In response to Virat Kohli’s absence from the current Test series against England, former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra said that everyone should “respect his privacy.” Chopra claimed in an interview with Jio Cinema that no one had explained to him why the former captain of India would miss the full Test series against England. “He has requested not to be considered for the whole series, no one has told us the reasons for which he sought this leave, and we must respect his privacy,” stated Chopra.
Virat had already skipped the opening two Test matches. His absence will now last for an additional three games. In the T20I series against Afghanistan earlier in January, he made his final appearance.
“Virat Kohli has personal reasons and will not be eligible for selection for the rest of the series. The Board completely supports and respects Mr. Kohli’s decision, the board stated in a statement.
Due to a painful knee, India’s wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul will miss the forthcoming third Test match against England in Rajkot, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) stated on Monday. Devdutt Padikkal, a left-handed batter, will join the team in lieu of Rahul.
The five-game series is tied at one after the first two games, with India winning in Visakhapatnam and England winning in Hyderabad. The following three series games will be held in Rajkot, Ranchi, and Dharamshala, in that order.
AB de Villiers on Kohli’s absence
The real reason Virat Kohli missed the first two Test matches against England, as disclosed by former South Africa captain AB de Villiers on Saturday, is that the Indian player and his wife Anushka Sharma are expecting their second child. Although he was originally included in the team for the first two Test matches, Kohli withdrew from both matches prior to the commencement of the Hyderabad match, citing personal reasons.
The major discovery was revealed by De Villiers in response to a fan’s question during a Q&A session on his YouTube channel. The fan questioned if De Villiers had checked with Kohli regarding his availability for the final three Test matches against England after the latter withdrew from the first two Tests.
“He’s alright, that’s all I know. He is skipping the first two Test matches since he is spending some time with his family. I won’t be confirming anything more. I am really excited to see him again. The former batter for the Royal Challengers Bangalore remarked, “He is fine, he is doing well.”
De Villiers started reading his text message discussion with Kohli, in an attempt to provide additional context for his announcement. It was in this exchange that he revealed the former captain of India and his wife Anushka are expecting their second child.
“I’ll just watch what he said. I just want to show you a little love, that’s all,” he continued. “I wanted to check in with you for a while now, biscuits, so I wrote to him. “How are you doing?” I simply need to be with my family right now,’ he stated. I’m doing pretty good.
With Rajat Patidar announced as Kohli’s replacement for the first two Test matches, the Indian cricket board asked supporters and the media to refrain from speculating about the player’s absence.
“During this period, the BCCI asks the public and media to respect Virat Kohli’s privacy and to avoid making assumptions about the nature of his personal reasons. The comprehensive board statement said, “The priority should continue to be providing assistance to the Indian cricket team as they take on the forthcoming challenges in the Test series.
If Kohli would be back for the final three games against England, De Villiers did not say.
