RCB Unbox Event: Virat Kohli and Men’s Team Celebrate Women’s Triumph with Guard of Honour
Virat Kohli and the RCB men’s team welcomed the victorious RCB’s WPL (Women’s Premier League) title-winning team led by Smriti Mandhana at the RCB Unbox event.
Tuesday’s RCB unbox event got underway at the Chinnaswamy Stadium with much excitement. However, a gesture made by the men’s squad of the RCB towards their female counterparts stole the show, eclipsed by all the other star-studded events scheduled. The RCB men formed a guard of honor to welcome Smriti Mandhana and the rest of the team, who led the WPL title winning squad, to the field with Virat Kohli in attendance. Goosebumps are guaranteed when the captain and the rest of her team step out in front of all the applause, cheers, and hoots.
Why not, too? The women are deserving of everything. Thousands of Bengaluru supporters saw their wait come to an end when RCB defeated Delhi Capitals in the WPL 2024 championship game on just their second try. Despite their greatest efforts, the men’s squad has not been able to accomplish this in the last 16 years of the IPL. In 2009, 2011 and 2016, RCB made it to the IPL final but lost all three times. They had three near calls with victory.
Conversely, the shouts of ‘Ee sala Cup Namde’ (This year, the cup will be ours) were silenced in favor of ‘Ee sala Cup Namdu,’ which means ‘This year, the cup is ours.’ This was done by their female counterparts. Therefore, in honor of the 15 incredible sportsmen who on Sunday realized the franchise’s dream, the men’s squad displayed their appreciation and affection for them. Users on X praised the gesture.
As the Unbox event got begun, the women’s team was on one of the stands. It was time for Mandhana and the other girls to absorb all the love and devotion from the audience after a few songs. Following the guard of honour, each player from the RCB’s championship WPL season completed a winning lap of the field. After all, the first leg of the WPL 2024 was held here, and RCB played five matches there, winning three of them.
Whenever Mandhana’s turn came around to speak during the toss, she had to wait for the crowd to settle down. This level of insanity towards RCB makes it appropriate that some of them returned to greet their heroes with gusto.
Due to streaming issues, the RCB unbox, which was supposed to commence at 4 PM, was delayed. Numerous fans experienced difficulties when trying to watch the event on the RCB app and website, which resulted in widespread outage reports. Some reported that the website collapsed, while others could not even view the URL. The team ultimately made the decision to move to RCB‘s YouTube channel for live streaming, however the feed also crashed just before Raghu Dixit was scheduled to perform.
Rishabh Pant to Lead Delhi capitals in IPL 2024
On Tuesday, Rishabh Pant was formally named the 2024 Indian Premier League captain of the Delhi Capitals. Due to serious injuries sustained in a tragic vehicle incident in December 2022, Pant was unable to play in the whole 2022 Indian Premier League. In Pant’s absence, Australia’s David Warner assumed leadership of DC. But it was inevitable that the team will revert to Pant as captain since he is prepared to rejoin the cricket team following nearly 15 months of arduous training, tenacity, bravery, and resolve.
The Delhi Capitals’ captain in the 2019 Indian Premier League will be Rishabh Pant. The Delhi Capitals pre-season preparatory camp in Vizag has included the wicketkeeper-batter, who is making his professional cricket comeback after a 14-month hiatus, the team announced in a statement.
Parth Jindal, the chairman and co-owner of DC, spoke at the event and stated, “We are thrilled to welcome Rishabh back as our Captain.” His kind of cricket, and not unexpectedly, his route to recovery, has always been defined by grit and courage. As we eagerly anticipate a new season with rekindled zeal, vigor, and enthusiasm, I can’t wait to watch him lead our team out once more.
“Rishabh has worked incredibly hard during one of the most challenging phases of his life,” stated team co-owner Kiran Kumar Grandhi. That will undoubtedly serve as a great source of inspiration for his colleagues as they start a fresh campaign. We wish Captain Rishabh and the team all the best.
Physiotherapist Thulasi Yuvraj of the National Cricket Academy said, “We gave our all in doing the rehab part for him because of his mental strength and confidence.”
“The physicians estimated that he might require up to two years. It was like a progressive period for him once he arrived at NCA,” he continued.
Strength and conditioning coach at NCA Nishanta Bordoloi said that Pant’s early interest in gymnastics helped him during his recuperation.
“One thing was that Rishabh has a background for gymnastic which was a very very big asset for us because there are a few things that come naturally to him,” Bordoloi stated. He had the ability to fall or roll back to his feet whenever he felt immobile. It gave him a significant advantage over others.
On March 23, the Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings will play in the inaugural IPL 2024 match in Chandigarh.
