Sumit Nagal dominates Geoff Blancaneaux as he storms into the second round of the Bengaluru Open 2024

With a straightforward victory here on Tuesday, second-seeded Indian Sumit Nagal advanced to the Bengaluru Open 2024 second round. His power and accuracy proved too much for Geoff Blancaneaux to handle.
In one hour and twenty-eight minutes, Nagal, the Sunday winner of the Chennai Open, blasted past his French opponent 6-2, 6-2.
On Wednesday, he will take on Hong Kong’s Coleman Wong in the following round.

Blancaneaux was unable to keep up with the Indian, Nagal, who recently broke into the ATP top 100, and was more than equal.

With a break in the first game of the first set, Nagal took a 1-0 lead as Blancaneaux struggled to handle his returns.
Throughout the first set, Nagal earned a staggering 17 points on the return, pressuring his opponent to either serve him up a dolly or commit an unforced error.

With a 4-2 advantage, the 26-year-old made another break in the seventh game when Blancaneaux made a careless backhand error.

Nagal easily concluded the set 6-2, taking a 5-2 lead.
The second set didn’t see any slowdown in intensity either; Nagal broke Blancaneaux in the opening game to put his opponent on the defensive.
After Nagal’s pin-perfect forehand volley put him ahead 30–40, Blancaneaux gave his opponent the break with a forehand that he smashed wide of the sidelines on the following point.

Blancaneaux won the following game to tie the match at 2-1, but Nagal easily maintained his serve in the second set to go up 2-0. The French player attempted to even the score with a few strong serves and ground strokes, but the next two games were decided by service.

However, in the seventh game, Blancaneaux drove his backhand well outside the baseline, and Nagal won the crucial break to lead 5-2.

In the eighth game, Nagal led 40–30 with the audience cheering him on.
With a thundering serve that he was unable to retrieve on Blancaneaux’s backhand, he sealed the game, set, and match.
Earlier, Dan Added of France, a tough qualifier, was upset by top-seeded Italian Lucas Nardi 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (0).

Evgeny Donskoy was defeated by Enrico Dalla Vale 6-2, 7-5. 6-3, 6-2 victories for Benjamin Bonzi over Philip Sekulic and Tristan Boyer over Bernard Tomic 6-3, 6-3, 6-3.
