West Indies vs Australia 1st T20I

West Indies enters the series fresh off a 3-2 home series victory over England in December 2023, while Australia lost a 1-4 road series to India in the same month of December the previous year.
After missing the full series in India after the ODI World Cup, Josh Hazlewood, David Warner, and Mitch Marsh are back in the captain’s chair for Australia. Given that Matt Short is hurt and Travis Head and Steve Smith are rested, Josh Inglis is most likely to partner Warner at the top of the order.

All-rounder Aaron Hardie has taken Short’s spot, as Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc have been rested. Hardie joins pace bowling options like Hazlewood and Marsh, including Spencer Johnson, Jason Behrendorff, and Sean Abbott.
Along with Adam Zampa and Tim David, the other wicketkeeper in the team is Matthew Wade, who captained the team in India. The hosts will also be pleased to see back Marcus Stoinis and Glenn Maxwell, who were absent for the ODIs.
Conversely, the West Indies will be welcoming some of the biggest names in T20, including Nicholas Pooran, Andre Russell, and captain Rovman Powell. Among the other players on the team are Sherfane Rutherford, Brandon King, Kyle Mayers, Johnson Charles, and all-arounder Jason Holder.
