Real Madrid and Cristiano Ronaldo are still very much in love, as the Portuguese star showered the reigning UEFA Champions League winners with accolades. Ronaldo was Real Madrid’s top goal scorer over the final nine seasons of his tenure there. The legendary Portuguese player paid a transfer fee of £80 million to join Los Blancos in the summer of 2009. A record 80,000 supporters attended his presentation at the Santiago Bernabeu, making him the instant star of the show.

With Real Madrid, Ronaldo captured four Champions League championships, including a three-peat in 2015–16, 2016–17, and 2017–18.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner just launched his YouTube account and welcomed Rio Ferdinand, his former Manchester United teammate, for a live session. When asked about Real Madrid, Ronaldo stated, “They’re not lucky in the Champions League,” while expressing his appreciation for the team.

Real Madrid is in excellent shape, and they are the type of team that doesn’t panic under duress. People claim to be lucky in the Champions League, but they are not. They get ready for times like these. Bernabeu, the vibe and aura there are different. The major clubs get there, score a goal, and then start to feel pressure in the 85th or 90th minute. “In my opinion, it’s the greatest football club in history,” Ronaldo posted on his YouTube page.

The Portuguese sensation, though, expressed doubt about Kylian Mbappe’s arrival’s potential to improve their performance from the previous campaign.

“We don’t know whether Madrid will be better than last year after Kylian Mbappe’s arrival, but they are a strong team,” he continued.

Toni Kroos, Ronaldo’s former teammate, made the amusing remark, “Don’t even reach 900 if I combine games and training goals,” after the player became the first in professional football history to achieve 900 goals in his career.

In addition, the 39-year-old shared his thoughts on Kroos’ sudden 34-year professional retirement.

“Retirement for Kroos? We must respect him since that’s how he sees the world. I honor his choice. He could continue playing for a few more years, but that’s up to him,” he said.
