West London rivals Brentford lost to Fulham 2-1 on Monday after two goals from Harry Wilson in stoppage time. Halfway through the first half, Vitaly Janelt had blasted the Bees ahead against the flow of play.

Wilson, a replacement, swept home the equalizer and then headed in the winner at the end of extra time, frustrating Fulham. “Coming on and scoring the two goals to win the game was an incredible feeling. We had them trapped in the entire time, so we deserved it,” Wilson said.

The triumph puts Marco Silva’s team in ninth place, three points out of the top four.

Prior to the late turnaround, Brentford was on track to finish in the top half, but they are now in 12th place.

Fulham was unable to capitalize on a deliberate start as Mark Flekken denied Reiss Nelson. Before Janelt took aim from a distance and blasted a shot past Bernd Leno on the twenty-fourth minute, Brentford had hardly threatened.

Smith, Emile After halftime, the home team found it difficult to penetrate Brentford’s thick defensive line after Rowe blew a great opportunity to respond right away.

Fulham didn’t beat Flekken until their 25th goal attempt, when Wilson’s creative effort from Adama Traore’s cross floated over the Dutch goalie.

The Welsh international had a fortunate second shortly after. Wilson attempted a header, but it soared into the top corner after bouncing off his shoulder and wrong-footing Flekken.

“They both went in but not how I would have wanted!” Wilson went on.

“I simply assisted the first one onto the back post, but the second one was luckier.

“I was trying to head it into the other corner but it hit my shoulder and went in.”
