BCCI Announces INR 125 Crore Reward for T20 World Champions India
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a massive prize of INR 125 crore (about USD 15 million) in response to India’s exciting victory in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.
Jay Shah, the board secretary, made the announcement as India defeated South Africa in a hotly contested Barbados final to win the championship.
The India team that won the T20 World Cup would receive a bonus of INR 125 crore (about USD 15 million) from the BCCI. The statement was made by board secretary Jay Shah on X, one day after India defeated South Africa in an exciting final in Barbados by a margin of seven runs.
“I am pleased to announce prize money of INR 125 Crores for Team India for winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024,” Shah wrote on Twitter. “Throughout the tournament, the team has shown remarkable talent, tenacity, and sportsmanship. Thank you for this incredible accomplishment, coaches, support staff, and players alike!”
The World Cup champions will receive a monetary prize of USD 2.45 million from the ICC, in addition to an additional $31,154 for each match that each team wins—so long as they avoid the semifinals and finals. The USD 850,000 cash award from the ICC is the most in the history of the men’s T20 World Cup, surpassing the USD 1.6 million that England received in 2022.
In general, this event offers greater prize money and participation fees to all teams than in the past. With the tournament’s total prize money more than doubling from USD 5.6 million in 2022 to USD 11.25 million this year, all 20 competing teams will get larger payouts.
South Africa, the runner-up, received USD 1.28 million (up from USD 800,000 in 2022), while Afghanistan and England, the losing semifinalist, each received USD 787,500 (up from USD 400,000 in 2022).

Rahul Dravid’s final game as the coach of the Indian cricket team was the T20 World Cup 2024 final, and he was able to have the ideal send-off as his team overcame South Africa to win the championship.
Rahul Dravid’s final game as the coach of the Indian cricket team was the T20 World Cup 2024 final, and he was able to have the ideal send-off as his team overcame South Africa to win the championship. After the game, Dravid was in full “Indiranagar ka gunda” mode. In an open conversation with the reporters, he even joked that he would be jobless starting next week.
The competition brought an end to Dravid’s term, as he had previously stated that he would not be renewing his contract. During the open discussion, Dravid even made a joke on whether the media had received any job offers from him, given his current unemployment.
Dravid gave a prompt response when asked if he would be able to move on from the enormous victory: “Yeah, I will be. I mean, my life will be the same next week. The only thing different will be that I won’t be working.”
After splitting up the journalists, Dravid said, “Any offers?”
The search for the next head coach of the Indian cricket team has already begun, with Gautam Gambhir, a former batter, emerging as the front-runner. Despite the lack of formal confirmation, speculations in the media indicate that he will probably take over as head of the national team following Dravid’s resignation.
“I made an effort to convince him to stay, but he clearly needs to weigh a number of considerations. Even yet, I treasured the time I had with him,” Rohit Sharma had previously stated of Dravid’s departure.
“When I initially arrived in Ireland, he was my first international captain. I also experienced his leadership in my first few Test matches. He’s been as a great inspiration to us, Rohit continued.
