Carlos Alcaraz was recruited by Team Europe with the intention of winning the Laver Cup again after they had lost the previous two years.

Carlitos will have some strong support.
World No. 3 Daniil Medvedev and world No. 6 Alexander Zverev will represent their continent by donning blue during the Laver Cup, which takes place in Berlin from September 20–22, it was revealed on Thursday.

Carlos Alcaraz will be accompanied by Daniil Medvedev and Alexander Zverev on Team Europe at the Laver Cup

After defeating Novak Djokovic in the US Open championship match to prevent the Serbian from completing a calendar-year Grand Slam, Medvedev made his final appearance in the international competition in 2021. Zverev competed in the first four Laver Cup competitions, which Team Europe ultimately won.

Team Europe captain Bjorn Borg stated, “We are really driven to reclaim the Cup in Berlin.” “I think we have a great chance of making that happen with Carlos, Sacha, and Daniil on my team.”

“The first half of our lineup is really strong, and the guys have had an amazing start to the year.” Having these champions in the fold for 2024 makes me very happy.

Zverev holds the distinction of being the winner of the game that decided the Laver Cup in 2018, 2019, and 2021:

2018: won 13-8 against Team Europe, defeating Kevin Anderson 6-7 (3), 7-5, and [10-7].
defeated Milos Raonic 6-4, 3-6, [10-4] in 2019 to help Team Europe win 13–11.

2021: Team Europe won 14-1 after defeating Reilly Opelka and Denis Shapovalov 6-2, 6-7 (4), [10-3] alongside Andrey Rublev in the match.
“I can’t wait to play in Laver Cup again,” the German-born Zverev exclaimed. “The atmosphere is always electric, and I especially think that having the Laver Cup here in Germany will be an experience of a lifetime.”

At the Australian Open, Medvedev recently advanced to his sixth career Grand Slam final and achieved his third straight semifinal or higher finish at a major tournament. He came back from a two-set disadvantage to overcome Zverev in the semifinals and then defeated Jannik Sinner in five sets after winning the first two sets.

Since Medvedev spent a record 24 hours and 17 minutes on court during the season’s opening major, no player may appreciate the shortened format of the Laver Cup more than him.

Since I don’t often get to play team tennis contests, Medvedev stated, “The team spirit is always the most exciting thing about Laver Cup for me.” “Sacha and Carlos are two of the best players in the world, so having them on our team will help a lot. I’m really excited to try and get Team Europe back to winning ways.”

With the following guidelines, each of Team Europe and Team World will field six players:
Over the course of the three days of competition, each participant is required to participate in a maximum of one singles match during the first two days.
Of the six players, four must play doubles.

On Friday, two points are awarded for each match victory; on Saturday and Sunday, three points are awarded.
The Laver Cup is won by the first team to score 13 points.
John McEnroe, captain of Team World, stated, “They want to win this one badly.” One of the main tennis matchups of the year will be this one.
