Since announcing the opening of his YouTube channel, UR Cristiano, Cristiano Ronaldo has shattered numerous records on social media. Ronaldo rose to prominence on YouTube quite rapidly, surpassing one million, ten million, and twenty million followers.

As the Portuguese football player approaches the 50 million mark on the video platform, records are falling. The astonishing thing, though, is that Ronaldo’s YouTube channel has elevated him in the competition to become the first person to surpass the one billion milestone on all social media platforms.

The former striker for Real Madrid and Manchester United, Ronaldo, has a sizable following on Twitter (112.7 million), Facebook (170 million), and Instagram (637 million). He is on the verge of amassing one billion social media followers, which is remarkable for an athlete. Ronaldo now has 45 million YouTube subscribers, bringing his total number of followers to 964 million.

No celebrity in the world has amassed 1 billion followers across all social media platforms as of yet. With the rate at which Ronaldo’s YouTube channel is expanding, it won’t be long before the 39-year-old surpasses that milestone.

Ronaldo is already one of the wealthiest athletes in the world and benefits greatly from his social media following. His wealth has been further increased via his YouTube account. Within the first 72 hours of opening his YouTube account, Ronaldo reportedly made around $100 million, according to a story in the Spanish newspaper Marca.

Currently, YouTube pays roughly $6 for each 1,000 views. Ronaldo has received over 200 million views on his 20 videos—including shorts—that he has uploaded since opening his YouTube account. Depending on the current YouTube measure, an individual can earn anywhere from $1,200 and $6,000 for every million views.
