After Spain defeated Hungary 73-72 on Sunday, Canada also qualified despite winning just one of their three qualifying matches. Natalie Achonwa, a forward from Canada, remarked, “It is a complete rollercoaster when your fate is in someone else’s hands.”

On Sunday, Japan, Serbia, and Spain became the next teams to qualify for the tournament; on Friday and Saturday, Australia, China, Belgium, Nigeria, and Puerto Rico did the same.
After winning a record-breaking 11th Women’s World Cup in 2022, the United States qualified automatically, with France serving as the host country. In the qualification tournaments, both teams competed and won all three of their matches.
