After Spain defeated Hungary 73-72 on Sunday, Canada also qualified despite winning just one of their three qualifying matches. Natalie Achonwa, a forward from Canada, remarked, “It is a complete rollercoaster when your fate is in someone else’s hands.”

“However, it was incredibly thrilling to share this moment with each other, knowing that our aspirations and objectives endure and that we will have the opportunity to represent Canada in Paris in 2024.”

On Sunday, Japan, Serbia, and Spain became the next teams to qualify for the tournament; on Friday and Saturday, Australia, China, Belgium, Nigeria, and Puerto Rico did the same.

After winning a record-breaking 11th Women’s World Cup in 2022, the United States qualified automatically, with France serving as the host country. In the qualification tournaments, both teams competed and won all three of their matches.
