Iga Swiatek Dominates Anastasia Potapova with Double Bagel in 40 Minutes at Roland Garros

Iga Swiatek, the reigning champion and three-time winner of Roland Garros, delivered a masterclass performance by defeating Anastasia Potapova 6-0, 6-0 in a swift 40-minute fourth-round match.

This was a wildly lopsided fourth-round match that Swiatek won five of the twelve games played at love.

Do you need Roland Garros to resume on time? Give Iga Swiatek a call. The two-time defending champion, three-time titlist on the terre battue and four-time major winner won her fourth-round match over an intimidated and under-prepared Anastasia Potapova, 6-0, 6-0, in exactly 40 minutes.

Swiatek won the second set in just 19 minutes, surpassing her 21-minute first set in efficiency. “In the on-court interview, I was just really focused and really in the zone,” she said to Mats Wilander. “Yeah, it went pretty quickly.”

Potapova, ranked 41st in the world, was broken six times in eight attempts by Swiatek, who also hit 13 winners against just two unforced mistakes. Potapova finished with five victories, nineteen unforced errors, and sixteen “forced errors” as a result of Swiatek’s pressure.

Considering the level of opposition and the stage of the tournament, five of Swiatek’s twelve victories came in love matches, an absurd figure.

The match’s tempo may have pleased the tournament’s organizers, considering that it came right after Novak Djokovic’s victory over Lorenzo Musetti at Roland Garros, which occurred after three in the morning. And for once, there was no need to use Court Philippe Chatrier’s roof.

Swiatek is set to face either Olga Danilovic or Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova in the quarterfinals. This upcoming match is anticipated to be more competitive, but given Swiatek’s current form, she remains the player to beat.
