Khvicha Kvaratskhelia Leads Napoli to 3-0 Victory Over Bologna.

In Serie A play on Sunday, Antonio Conte’s Napoli secured their first victory of the year with a convincing 3-0 triumph against Bologna. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia of Georgia was the game’s star performer, capping an incredible week with netting Napoli’s second goal. Napoli’s victory was a huge comeback after their earlier loss to Verona.

Napoli defeated Bologna 3-0 on Sunday, their first victory under Antonio Conte; in contrast, Roma suffered a shocking 2-1 home loss to Empoli. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was a standout for Napoli. The top player from Georgia, Kvaratskhelia, marked his fatherhood on Wednesday by scoring Napoli’s second goal in the last 15 minutes of an exciting match at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

Even though Kvaratskhelia’s deflected goal gave Napoli a point and atoned for their humiliation at the hands of Verona the previous weekend, his genuine show of class occurred in stoppage time at the end of the first half.

In addition to hitting the crossbar, the 23-year-old sliced a beautiful ball over the Bologna defense for the advancing Giovanni Di Lorenzo, who scored the game’s first goal and lit up the fans and the touchline.

According to Kvaratskhelia, “I think you saw it on the pitch, the energy, and I did everything for the team,” as broadcast on DAZN. “This week was really significant to me, and I’m thrilled that the team and I both came here and prevailed. I’m overjoyed.”

Following his appalling performances at Euro 2024, where Italy lost to Switzerland in the quarterfinals as the defending champions, Napoli captain Di Lorenzo faced harsh criticism.

However, his goal enabled Napoli to defeat an astute Bologna squad who deserved better than the single point they had earned from their opening two games.

“These fans show me a lot of love and I try to pay that back every time I step out onto the pitch,” Di Lorenzo added.

Deep into added time, substitute Giovanni Simeone pushed home new signing David Neres’ low cross to cap off an incredible home debut for Conte.

Roma Collapse

Roma, who lost to Empoli at home for the first time in their history, were also off to a terrible start, with Daniele De Rossi’s team lacking any spark from Paulo Dybala’s tenure in the Italian capital.

Roma was defeated by Emmanuel Gyasi’s tap-in just before halftime and a penalty kick by Lorenzo Colombo in the 61st minute. Eldor Shomurodov gave Roma a late lead with ten minutes to go, but they were unable to complete the comeback.

Together with Lorenzo Pellegrini and Gianluca Mancini, Dybala was one of three Roma players to fall victim to the woodwork on Thursday, following the breakdown of his move to Al Qadsiah, a Saudi Arabian team.

However, Roma faced jeers as they left the field due to their two-goal deficit against a team that is predicted to fight to avoid relegation.

“We were deficient in vigor and passion… We didn’t play well enough in the second half, and things won’t go well for you if you don’t play well in the first half, De Rossi told Sky Sport. De Rossi won’t have much time to lift his team’s morale before they head to Juventus, who play Verona on Monday, the following weekend.

Adams emulates Law

Che Adams earlier on Sunday delighted supporters who had urged for the owner to sell in large-scale pre-match demonstrations by scoring the game-winning goal in Torino’s 2-1 victory against Atalanta, following in Denis Law’s footsteps.

Four minutes after halftime, Scotland striker Adams scored the second goal for Torino, his first since joining as a free agent last month.

After Scotland and Manchester United star Law scored for Torino in the 1961–62 season, the 28-year-old became the first of his countrymen to do so. A flawless home debut was completed when Adams scored the winner after Duvan Zapata’s low shot was stopped. In the 31st minute, he also set up Ivan Ilic’s lovely dinked equalizer.

With his goal and Vanja Milinkovic-Savic’s late stoppage-time penalty save, Torino had four points from their opening two games.

Following 19 mostly dull years at the helm, hundreds of supporters marched to the game in unison to demand that owner and media mogul Urbano Cairo sell the team. This led to the victory. The other early kickoff of the day ended in a goalless tie between Venezia and Fiorentina.
