Kylian Mbappe vs PSG: Legal Battle Over €55 Million in Unpaid Wages Intensifies
Kylian Mbappe vs PSG unpaid wages dispute: The French striker Kylian Mbappe is involved in a court battle for unpaid payments with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and its principal shareholder, Qatar Sports Investments. As a result, the relationship between the two parties is still tense.
A “ethical bonus” and unpaid pay for the final three months of the star forward’s contract (April, May, and June) are included in the alleged roughly €55 million debt.
The French forward Kylian Mbappe is still in conflict with Paris Saint-Germain and its primary shareholder, Qatar Sports Investments, regarding unpaid salaries. As a result, he has taken the subject to the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA).
The sum includes the final three months of Mbappe’s contract salary (April, May, and June) as well as a “ethical bonus” for these three months. Mbappe is due over 55 million euros in unpaid pay by PSG. It also covers the last third of the 36 million euros signing bonus that the player was anticipated to get in February. Le Monde, a French daily, reported that PSG received an official notice from the player’s camp in mid-June.
According to the report, Mbappe also filed a complaint with the French Professional Football League’s (LFP) legal committee. He did this by referring to article 259 of the professional football charter in France, which stipulates that “under ordinary law, clubs are required to pay players under contract by the last day of each month at the latest.”
After the process, the French Football Federation (FFF) forwarded the issue to UEFA.
After spending seven years at PSG, where he became the club’s all-time leading scorer, Mbappe joined Real Madrid. The two’s friendship came to an abrupt stop when rumors of a verbal altercation between Mbappe and PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi surfaced.
The 2018 World Cup winner participated in Real Madrid’s opening La Liga match, a 1-1 draw against Mallorca, and won the UEFA Super Cup in his first game with the team.
