Rohit Sharma Triumph Over Virat Kohli to Claim ‘International Cricketer of the Year’ at CEAT Awards 2024
Skipper Rohit Sharma won the coveted CEAT Men’s International Cricketer of the Year title at he CEAT Cricket Rating Awards in Mumbai, putting India’s cricketing brilliance on full show.
This honor comes after Rohit led Team India to victory in the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup, which was a major turning point in an already remarkable career.
Rahul Dravid was given the Lifetime Achievement Award, and Virat Kohli was named the ODI Batter of the Year.
The CEAT Cricket Rating Awards ceremony honored the outstanding accomplishments of cricketing luminaries on Wednesday in Mumbai. The CEAT Men’s International Cricketer of the Year award went to India’s captain Rohit Sharma on Wednesday, following his role in the Men in Blue’s victory in the T20 World Cup 2024 in July.
In ODIs and T20Is combined, Rohit has amassed 14,846 runs, three double hundreds, 33 hundreds, and 87 fifties. In addition to his tantalizing total, Rohit has won the ICC Champions Trophy twice and the ICC T20 World Cup twice (in 2007 and 2024). He is the record holder for the most sixes in the shortest format as well.

The CEAT Men’s International Cricketer of the Year award went to India’s captain Rohit Sharma on Wednesday, following his role in the Men in Blue’s victory in the T20 World Cup 2024 in July.
Rohit left a lasting legacy as India’s Twenty20 international captain. With 49 victories in 62 games, he surpassed Dhoni to become the most successful T20I skipper. In 72 games, Dhoni had 41 victories. Moreover, he ended India’s 11-year ICC trophy drought when he guided the team to the ICC T20 World Cup title following an exciting victory over South Africa in Barbados.
Yashasvi Jaiswal, a young player, won the CEAT Awards on Wednesday for best Test batter of the year, thanks to his brilliant performance in the series against England. Jaiswal was the series’ top scorer during England’s recent tour of India, with 712 runs at a strike rate of 79.91 from 5 matches and 9 innings.
In 2023, the 22-year-old played his first Test match against the West Indies. After 9 games and 16 innings in the extended format, he has 1028 runs at a strike rate of 70.07. In the meantime, Mohammad Shami, an Indian pacer, took up the CEAT Award for best ODI bowler of the year.
Shami, who took 24 wickets at an economy rate of 5.26 in just seven matches, was the leading wicket-taker in the 2023 ODI World Cup. Shami has had a difficult few years because he has been injured for the majority of them. The 33-year-old took 195 wickets in 101 appearances since making his ODI debut against Pakistan in 2013.
However, at the CEAT Cricket Rating Awards on Wednesday, veteran Indian batsman Virat Kohli was named the finest ODI batter of the year. 2008 saw Kohli play his first ODI match against Sri Lanka. After playing 295 matches and 283 innings at a strike rate of 93.54, he has since scored 13906 runs.
Kohli scored the most runs in the ODI World Cup 2023, with 765 from 11 matches at a strike percentage of 90.31. Kohli made history by becoming the first player to hit fifty ODI tons at the 50-over World Cup.

Recalling the final game of the T20 World Cup 2024, Men in Blue defeated South Africa by seven runs on June 29 in Barbados thanks to the efforts of Virat Kohli (76), Hardik Pandya (3/20), and Jasprit Bumrah (2/18).
