Key Performances and Match Results

England 320 for 8 (Beaumont 150*, Kemp 65) beat Ireland 45 (Cross 3-8, Filer 3-10) by 275 runs.

With Tammy Beaumont hitting 150 runs without conceding a wicket, England Women’s victory margin of 275 runs (their most in One-Day Internationals) gave them an unbeatable 2-0 lead in their series against Ireland. At Stormont, Beaumont scored an innings of just 139 balls, including 16 fours and a six, as the visitors easily won with 33.1 overs remaining.

After posting career-best numbers with both bat and ball in the first game, which England won by four wickets, captain Kate Cross took 3 for 8 from only four overs as Ireland was bowled out for 45 on Monday, their lowest-ever total in One-Day Internationals.

Both players have long accepted the fact that England has moved on from them in Twenty20 Internationals, and their exclusion from the team for the T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates next month served as further evidence of this. They are therefore leading a second-string England Women’s team that is touring Ireland for three Twenty20 Internationals in Dublin and three One-Day Internationals in Belfast, while the World Cup team gets ready to fly out to Abu Dhabi for a pre-tournament training camp.

Beaumont is now third on the overall chart, behind Meg Lanning (15) and Suzie Bates (13), having moved over Nat Sciver-Brunt and Charlotte Edwards at the top of England’s tally for most hundreds in the format with her tenth ODI century.

Beaumont struck a competition-best 118 in the Hundred and a double-century in the Ashes Test last year, but she hasn’t played in three T20Is since January 2022, when she supported a squad without its WPL stars in New Zealand earlier this year.

She disclosed that she had back spasms in the middle of the inning during her most recent performance, but despite yet another defiant outing, it wasn’t about proving anyone incorrect.

Beaumont remarked, “That’s probably something about my character.” “I think that’s always been the case because ever since I was around four years old, I’ve been told I couldn’t accomplish a lot of things, and I’ve proven a lot of people wrong.

However, I believe that at this point in my game, I have nothing more to prove. I’m competing not only for England but also for myself and my teammates. I mean, I shattered a few of records. I’m not required to constantly prove myself. All I have to do is keep having fun and playing.”

She also had no ill will towards being passed over for the captaincy on this tour.

“Kate and I are both real experienced payers and she’s done a great job so far,” Beaumont remarked. It was a pleasure to be a part of this team, possibly guide a few younger guys, and welcome them to the England team. For me, it was simply about coming over here and making sure we won the series, as well as having the genuine honor of representing the shirt.”

In the meantime, Freya Kemp—a member of the World Cup team—did exactly that, chipping in 65 to a century stand with Beaumont for the fourth wicket. Kemp was sent to Ireland to regain his form following a dismal Hundred campaign with Southern Brave.

In her 47-ball knock, 19-year-old Kemp smacked two sixes, her highest score in 23 white-ball format outings for England. Then, after a protracted back injury kept her from bowling for a while, she took 2 for 7 from her three overs.

Hasty Though rookie Georgia Davis ended Ireland’s disastrous innings with her second wicket and figures of 2 for 19 in 3.5 overs with her offspin, Lauren Filer, who was left out of the T20 World Cup, took 3 for 10.
