Top 10 Highest Team Totals in IPL History
The Indian Premier League (IPL) has always been synonymous with high-scoring games, with totals that rival One Day International (ODI) matches. Teams in the IPL have achieved some incredible totals between 2008 and 2024, changing the definition of explosive cricket.
In their crushing victory over RCB, SRH registered a record-breaking total of 287/3. This incredible achievement was the subject of an intense meeting that took place in Bengaluru on April 15, 2024.

1. SRH 287/3 vs RCB
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in a thrilling, high-scoring match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in a historic IPL match. RCB lost despite scoring an outstanding 262/7, as Sunrisers’ historic 287/3 became the highest total in IPL history. With 549 runs scored in all, this match also set a record for the highest total ever in a Twenty20 contest.
With a brilliant innings of 102 off just 41 balls, Australian phenom Travis Head cemented his status as a match-winning player in the shortest format.
Heinrich Klaasen, who was partnered with Head, was as impressive as he scored a scorching 67 from 31 deliveries, including seven sixes.Â
2. SRH 277/3 vs MI
With an incredible 277/3, Sunrisers Hyderabad created IPL history by breaking the previous record of 263 set in 2013 by Royal Challengers Bangalore. Lead by Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, and Heinrich Klaasen, the blazing innings included one of the most thrilling six-hitting displays in IPL history. Mumbai Indians, in reply, made a heroic attempt and ended with the greatest score by a losing side (246/5).
Travis Head’s scorching 18-ball fifty and Abhishek Sharma’s 16-ball half-century, which became the fastest half-century in Sunrisers’ IPL history, drove Sunrisers Hyderabad to an incredible 277. Heinrich Klaasen and Aiden Markram grabbed control as the innings came to an end, adding the icing to Sunrisers’ enormous score.

The Punjab Kings (PBKS) pulled off the greatest successful chase in Twenty20 history by defeating the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 262 runs with eight balls remaining in the game. With 83 runs off of 35 balls, Dinesh Karthik led the RCB in scoring, but his efforts were insufficient to win.
