In a recent match at the Dubai Championships, two-time Wimbledon champion Andy Murray faced a setback, losing 6-2, 6-4 to fifth-seeded Ugo Humbert. The defeat prompted Murray, now 36, to express that he is unlikely to play beyond the upcoming summer, suggesting an imminent retirement from professional tennis.
Earlier in the tournament, Murray secured his 500th hard-court win by rallying past Denis Shapovalov in three sets. After achieving this milestone, he hinted at the possibility of entering the “last few months” of his illustrious career. Following the loss to Humbert, Murray elaborated on his plans, refraining from specifying a definite retirement timeline but indicating that he does not plan on playing much beyond the summer.
