Blue cards are scheduled to be included in football sin bins
Football has utilized yellow and red cards since the 1970 World Cup, but there are rumors that a new card may be added to the rules.
The International Football Association Board has approved the introduction of a blue card as part of a trial for sin-bins, according to The Telegraph.
Under the new policy, players who commit cynical fouls or demonstrate disapproval towards an official will be taken off the field for ten minutes.
The new card will only be available for fouls during a potentially strong attack in addition to dissent.
A player may be dealt a red card if they are dealt two blue cards or a combination of yellow and blue cards. It has been stated that this Friday will mark the announcement of the new protocol.
According to a Telegraph report, elite trials may start as early as the summer, although top-tier events won’t be included in the professional game’s initial testing if the methods need to be improved.
This could apply to the FA Cup and Women’s FA Cup, as the Football Association is thinking of offering to test the competitions for the upcoming season.
“It’s not football anymore,” UEFA president Aleksandr Ceferin stated in an interview with the Telegraph, expressing his opposition to sin-bins. They won’t be used by us in the UEFA competition.
Four Europeans are members of Ifab. They won’t take any actions that would be detrimental to football, in my opinion. And if they do, we’ll address it thereafter.
“I would leave football as it is,” Ceferin continued.
“I don’t believe more regulations are necessary. We don’t have to go down in history as significant figures who transformed football. Football doesn’t need to alter. We are traveling through.
