No Revenge Mission For Liverpool

Alex Mac Allister and his Liverpool teammates were still reeling from their heartbreaking FA Cup quarterfinal loss to Manchester United, so it would not have surprised them if the Argentine midfielder had described their trip back to Old Trafford as a mission of vengeance.

Amad Diallo’s goal in the last seconds of extra time sealed a 4-3 loss for Jurgen Klopp’s team after they twice lost leads.

The Merseysiders were hurt by Liverpool’s failed quadruple attempt, but they may avenge it by defeating Erik ten Hag’s team in an attempt to tie United’s record of 20 Premier League championships.

With so much already at risk, Mac Allister, whose thunderous strike set Liverpool up for their 3-1 victory over Sheffield United on Thursday, argued that exacting revenge for their FA Cup loss was not the main driving force.

“We have eight games left, and we are two points ahead of second-place Arsenal. I don’t know if it’s revenge, but it will definitely be a big game for us because that’s the aim,” Mac Allister said of his squad.

Third-place City, three points behind the leaders, travels to Crystal Palace, while Arsenal moves to Brighton with the intention of maintaining pressure on Liverpool.

Battle For Top 4 Race Heats Up

Ange Postecoglou, the manager of Tottenham, believes that his team is not the “finished article” as his top four contenders prepare for a crucial weekend in the Champions League qualifying race.
Despite Tuesday’s dismal 1-1 draw at West Ham, Aston Villa’s 4-1 loss to Manchester City the day before maintained Postecoglou’s team in the running for a top four spot.

ranked fifth With a game remaining, Tottenham is two points behind Villa in fourth place.
On Saturday, struggling Nottingham Forest will be at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, while Villa will be at Brentford.

Both teams will be expected to win, and while Postecoglou acknowledges his team is still developing, a shocking error could prove to be the difference.
“I wish I could move them around with a joystick, but that’s not how it works. We are aware that we are not the final product,” he remarked.

For the first time since 1983, Villa hopes to compete in the Champions League, and manager Unai Emery stated that his players love the pressure.
“We have a packed schedule of matches coming up, beginning on Saturday. We are obviously eager and driven to attempt to be competitive,” he remarked.

‘Only Way Is Up’ In Survival Battle

Morgan Gibbs-White, a midfielder for Nottingham Forest, is optimistic that his team will persevere despite growing pressure to survive.
With a first win in seven games in all competitions, fourth-bottom Forest overcame Fulham 3-1 on Tuesday to increase their chances of escaping the drop. Gibbs-White scored the game’s only goal.

“We are all proud of the team. Hopefully, there’s only going to be upward movement from here,” Gibbs-White stated.
For violating the Premier League’s sustainability and profitability regulations, Forest has been docked four points, while Everton has been fined six points (which was lowered from ten on appeal) for comparable financial offenses.

In a pivotal match on Saturday at Goodison Park, Everton takes on Burnley, the former team of manager Sean Dyche, looking to end a record-tying 13-game winning streak in the Premier League.
As they look to win their first league game since defeating the Clarets in December, Dyche’s team is seven points ahead of Burnley, who are now in second place.

Bournemouth visits third-bottom Luton with the intention of cutting the three-point deficit to Forest.
